Flint Hills Tech College Available Courses

Dear Parent or Guardian of a 2015-16 Junior or Senior Student,

I am pleased to announce that we will be in a position to offer some additional concurrent dual credit classes through the Flint Hills Technical College.

The dual credit courses in addition to our already College Algebra will include the following; English Composition I and II and Introduction to Sociology. These courses will be offered during the regular school schedule and taught by our own instructors. At this time we do not have the exact cost per one-half credit but we believe that it will be in the range of $300.00 for each semester.

As for the courses that your student will be able to access through FHTC a list of those classes has been inserted with this letter. House Bill 155 allows your child to enroll and obtain the shown credit free of charge, yes I did say free of charge. There may be a text book rental or purchase for a select few of these classes. If you and your child are interested in any of these classes you will need to contact FHTC. The reason for this is even though these are online classes they have a maximum enrollment number assigned to them. Along with the 3 college credit hours your child will receive, NHHS will also give your child elective credit for enrolling and passing these classes.

Along with these paid dual credit classes offered, the school will also be offering some free classes (with the exeption of possible textboock needs). The classes being offered are Business Administative Technology, Power Plant Technology, Interactive Media Design, Emergency Services Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, and Computer Program Design and Development.

All of these classes are offered at our school courtesy of Flint Hills Technical College. If you have any questions or concerns about these free classes or the dual credit paid classes, contact our counselor Jessica Woodrow at woodrowj@usd251.org.
