Budget Cuts......What Can We Do?

One project of the Learning Resource Room:
There has been a lot of talk about the budget in our school district as well as other school districts in the state of Kansas. Therefore, the students in the Learning Resource wanted to make a difference and are writing letters to our Senator and Representatives. Our class has found information and learned about how a school district gets some of the budget for running a school. Students in the class were excited to write these letters voicing there concerns during these tough times. Once, the letters are complete then students will be sending them to the Senator and Representatives, with hopes that some of them if not all of the students will get letters back.
Along with the letters students in the Learning Resource Room are preparing for the State Assessments which includes: Reading Articles - comprehension, main ideas, authors purpose, making inferences, text structure, vocabulary, etc. and then also Mathematics - number and computation, pre-algebra, dabbing into geometry, etc.
All the students have been working very hard on all of the activities that we have going on in the Resource Room at this time!
