Dear USD 251 Parents,
I am sure you have already heard that the Governor has cancelled school as we know it, for the remainder of this year. For USD 251, it means we need to make plans to provide some type of "continuous learning" opportunities for our students. The administrative team is meeting this week to make plans and the teaching staff will be using all of next week to prepare to implement the plan. We will be communicating with you frequently, and will keep you informed as best we can. We know that child care will be a major concern and we are brainstorming ways we can help.
You should have already received an earlier email containing a link to a survey concerning your need for food service during this time, and the link will be included at the end of this message. Please complete the survey ASAP, as we plan to begin serving food on Thursday of this week. It is imperative that you begin to think about your childcare options at this time. We will be in contact with you by email, with continued updates and our plans for continuous learning.
This also means that Prom and Graduation will need to be postponed to a much later date, even into July or August. It is also possible that both events could eventually be cancelled. All KSHAA spring activities have been cancelled.
This is an extraordinary, almost surreal time in our lives, and we will need to work together to make the most of it. I assure you that we will do everything we can legally do to help you and our students get through this the best we can. Even though this is an unprecedented time, I know we will come out on the other side intact and ready to move forward, by working together for the good of all. We'll be in touch.
