North Lyon County USD 251 School Family,
School Reopening Update:
We so appreciate everyone’s patience as our school district continues to plan for the reopening of our school buildings on August 20th. Our administrative team and our Continuous Learning leadership team is gearing up to finalize the plan for August and a return to school. The Continuous Learning leadership team met throughout the month of June to complete the advance planning process. As many of you know, the Kansas State Department of Education recently released (July 9) a 1,078 page draft copy of “Navigating Change,” which provides all Kansas school districts with multiple options as we finalize our plans.
On both July 16th and July 20th, the North Lyon County administrative team will be participating in trainings to familiarize our district with the Navigating Change guidelines and recommendations. On the afternoon of July 20th, the NLC Continuous Learning leadership team will begin working on the final draft of our district’s plan to reopen school on August 20th. Our team will be considering the input of all of our district state holders (teachers, staff, parents/students, community). We will also be working very closely with the Lyon County Health Department to insure the health and safety of our students and staff. It is our goal to work at a good pace to complete the plan by July 24th, if at all possible. This will give our school family time to plan 4 weeks out for the beginning of school.
This week our district is requesting that families complete a survey for each child in your family pertaining to the return to school. We will be having our school staff complete a survey as well. Our hope is to collect as much feedback as possible prior to putting the finishing touches on what works best for our school family next week.
We hope you take the time to complete the survey by the end of the day Thursday, July 16. Access the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YPNFK98
