USD 251 Statement on Home Extracurricular Activities:
September 18, 2020
After hosting home extracurricular events for the past three weeks with the limited number of spectators, our school district is in a better position to increase the number of spectators at home activities. After collaborating with the Southern Lyon County and Emporia school districts as well as the Lyon County Health Department we have decided to safely expand the number of spectators. Beginning with the week of September 21st, spectator attendance at home games will be increased to:
Volleyball - 4 people per athlete
Football - 6 people per athlete
Cheer - 4 people per athlete
Band - 2 people per musician
It continues to be extremely important for all game spectators to adhere to the mitigation guidelines already in place. This will help to ensure that all of our students and school families remain healthy and prevent the spread of disease. Ultimately this will help to make it more likely that our students will have the opportunities to stay in-person at school and have a full season of activities.
Note: These guidelines are subject to change at any time throughout the fall sports season as the local health situation changes.
