We are excited to have all of you join us for another exciting school year at USD 251. If you were at open house this week, you have probably already heard about our new communications tool called “ROOMS”. This will be a one-for-all tool. Every teacher and staff member, even coaches will use “ROOMS” to communicate with you.

USD 251 Open Houses and Fall Sports Parent Meetings
USD 251 teachers continued focusing on school improvement and student achievement this morning. All teachers worked together in grade level and subject area teams on standards alignment focusing on a guaranteed and viable curriculum for our students. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!
USD 251 welcomed back teachers and staff today for annual trainings and teacher curriculum collaboration. Thanks to the Emporia State Federal Credit Union for providing door prizes and lunch for all staff!
Practice begins Monday, Aug. 19th for Cross Country, Football, & Volleyball.
All students must have a current physical on file before they are allowed to participate. They can attend practice, but will not be allowed to participate until a physical is completed.
Pick-up times/locations for Mon. & Tues. will be posted when they become available.

USD 251 recently completed the exterior painting project at NLC Elementary School.
In addition, drainage was improved at the NLC main entrance and front parking lot as well as concrete sidewalk repairs. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!
Please call the district office at 620-481-2085 to sign up your student for ORIENTATION!!! Orientation is for all Preschool, Kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade, and new students. It will be held on Monday, August 19th from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. Please let us know if your child plans on attending so we can plan for breakfast, lunch, and transportation.
USD 251 has completed the main gym and hallway update this summer at Northern Heights High School by removing the wall carpet in the gym and south hallway. The project included gym and hall painting as well as mounting several additional acoustical panels in the gym. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!
USD 251 has completed remodeling the unfinished warehouse area in the Early Learning Center this summer. This is now an additional flexible learning space for our four-year olds. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!

Northern Heights cheer team will be working at Pizza Ranch on Wednesday, August 14th. All tips will help the team with new apparel for the upcoming year.
USD 251 North Lyon County has an opening for a part-time RN. This person will more than likely only work a few hours a week. This is an ideal position for a stay-at-home parent/nurse or a retired nurse. The applicant must be able to maintain professional confidentiality. USD 251 North Lyon County has an opening for a CNA or CMA. This position is full-time , school year position with benefits. The successful applicant will be responsible for helping students in need of medical assistance. This person would be under the supervision of the Principal and School Nurse. The applicant must be able to maintain professional confidentiality.
