We will be closing our Honor Flight Veterans application process this coming Monday, December 4th and will be notifying accepted veterans for the Honor Flight trip next week. The trip is scheduled for April 21-22. We have a couple spots left, so get your applications turned in to the school ASAP!
The digital link is below. Hard copies can be picked up at Northern Heights or the American Legion Post 5 in Emporia. We will also have them available at the entry table at this Friday's home basketball game. They can be turned in in person mail. They do require a signature. Due to inclement weather and poor road conditions all USD 251 schools will have a 2-hour delay this morning. Breakfast will not be served.


Due to possible snow, the FCA meeting planned for tomorrow the 25th is postponed. We will try again at a later date.

Today the Northern Heights FFA competed in the East Central District Leadership School and Employability Skills LDE. Bethany DeDonder qualified for State by winning the Employability Skills LDE.


Today the Northern Heights FFA competed in the East Central District Leadership School and Employability Skills LDEs. The Greenhand Team was 9th in Ritual and Information test. Jacob Merrill was 2nd in Leadership Information. Hayden Saunders was Master Ritual Vice-President.

FCA is hosting a cookie fellowship with alumni Kolden Ryberg. Bring a friend and come to the high school at 3 pm on the 25th for cookies, games, and a presentation.


Tuesday, 11/21, at 6:00 PM the Northern Heights boys and girls basketball teams will have their annual Black & White scrimmage. Come help the teams kick off the 23-24 season.


With the upcoming retirement of Ron Slaymaker, the Lyon County League is looking for a new commissioner (someone who helps schedule/communicate with officials). If you know someone who would be interested &/or a good fit for the job, please encourage them to apply.

Kaylyn Bish led the junior high girls basketball team with 18 points, to a victory over Council Grove last night. Congratulations to the girls basketball players and coaches.

Thanksgiving luncheon was a big hit today. The STUCO and the 5th graders helped serve. Thanks to everyone that helped with this wonderful event. I




Students enjoyed making placemats for the district’s annual senior citizen Christmas dinner.










NHHS FCCLA would like to remind you that their shoe drive will end next week so if you have shoes to donate please bring those in by Tuesday.


In Recognition of National Education Week, USD 251 sincerely appreciates the commitment & effort of all our teachers and staff.


Today NHHS students were able to listen to presenters on mental health and substance abuse, psychological effects of social media, legal ramifications of impaired driving and physiological effects of vaping and smoking. Great information for our students to hear. Thanks to all our presenters for their time and fantastic presentations

Last Friday, FBLA put on the annual Veterans' Day Program to celebrate the valor and courage of veterans in our community. We had 15 veterans proudly attend to thank them for their service.





NLC held their Honor Roll Assemblies on Friday to recognize students in grades 3rd-5th and 6th-8th for their academic accomplishments! Students were recognized based on GPA for the Superintendent, Principal, or Counselor Honor Roll. Congratulations students!
