Congratulations to USD 251 North Lyon County for being recognized by the Kansas State Department of Education for continued academic excellence. North Lyon County Schools were awarded six 2025 Kansans Can Star Recognition awards! According to KSDE, North Lyon County Schools is 1 of only 7 Kansas school districts to be awarded 6 or more Kansans Can Star Recognition Awards for 2025. Furthermore, USD 251 was awarded a gold star award for Civic Engagement. Only 4 school districts in Kansas received this highest civic engagement award. USD 251 has a pattern of consistently receiving Star awards with this year's awards bringing the district total to 31 awards in the past 7 years! This continued academic success reflects the commitment to academic excellence in North Lyon County. USD 251 is extremely proud of our students, teachers, staff, and administrators for these great accomplishments. Our entire school family, including all of our communities should have a great deal of pride for the success of our students are continuing to have. These awards highlight the small-town values, work ethic, and support of our communities and patrons. North Lyon County continues to be a great place to raise families and receive a high-quality education.

This week at Northern Heights.

The NLC Volleyball team played in the LCL Volleyball Tournament at Hartford today. They finished 4th and went 1-2 on the day playing a tough second match against Lebo taking it to 3 sets. Congratulations on a great season!!!

We had some fun at the HOSA Color Run today. Thank you to all participants and supporters for joining us this morning.

The Northern Heights football game vs Chase Co. was postponed due to weather. The game will resume tomorrow (Saturday) at 3:00 PM.

We appreciate everyone who came out to support the firecat dance team! A lot of community members, students, and staff showed up! Thanks to everyone who made this event so great!

Bob turns 88 today!. He does so much for our cross country program. He has been maintaining the course for almost 30 years. Alot of people at the meet yesterday signed his poster… even other schools.

NLC basketball practices will begin Monday. Boys will practice from 6:00am - 7:30am. Girls will practice from 3:45 pm - 5:15pm. Activity bus will run at 5:20pm. This will be the schedule until the Monday after Thanksgiving break.

Today for junior high we had the sports teams sit together to show team appreciation for the last game of the season.

Join us at the Northern Heights Football field this Friday 10/17 at 6:30 PM for senior night! Volleyball, Cross Country, and Football seniors will all be recognized, followed by the game against Chase County at 7 PM.

The Northern Height volleyball game at Hartford tonight (10/14) will now be varsity only. They will play best of 5 starting at 5:00 PM.
