
Day 2 of the teen traffic safety conference was yesterday! The kids had a great time going through different sessions and learning about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving. We cannot wait to share some of our new knowledge with our family and friends!






NHHS FCCLA is hosting a shoe drive through Thanksgiving break. There are donation boxes at NLC Elementary. Shoes can be any size and any condition.


To wrap up Community Helpers Week, the preschool visited Americus City Hall and learned about managing the day-to-day operations of the city.



Seventh graders spending some time today reading to the preschool students. Students are looking for ways to become engaged in our communities and district.









Congratulations to Northern Heights senior, Chloe Navarro, for being named All Flint Hills League Honorable Mention.


The Preschool made a visit to KansasLand Bank in Americus and learned all about

And each preschooler left with a little bag of $83 in shredded money!

Day 1 of the SAFE (Seatbelts are for everyone) conference complete! Students learned about ATV and UTV safety and laws in addition to dangers, networked with law enforcement, DCCCA, and other agencies to learn more about the importance of driving safety, and so much more.






The Americus Fire Department visited the preschool for Community Helpers Week! Bill Harmon and one of his volunteers, Michelle, talked about the importance of fire safety and to teach the children to not be scared of Firefighters. To end the informative talk, the kids got the opportunity to shoot a fire hose to knock a fire helmet off of a construction cone!







NLC Wildcats teams played hard tonight in Chase County! A team boys came away with a WIN!!!!










During Community Helpers Week, The Preschool had the opportunity to spend time with Lyon County Sheriff Deputy Moore and Americus Chief of Police Jody Meyers, while they spent time with us, they informed our preschoolers of

NLC Upcoming Events


It might be Buffer Week, but there is still plenty going on.
Wednesday's fall sports banquet will once again start with a pot luck meal followed by awards & recognition.
The 7: 30 parent meeting is for both boys & girls basketball teams. We encourage all parents to attend.


Junior High Student Council sponsored a fall dance on Friday night. The students had great time. Thanks to Ms. Adams and the STUCO members.




NLC Middle School students ended their spirit week with Color Day (each class was assigned a different color) and Jersey Day!










Mrs. DeDonder's Career and Community Connection class had the opportunity to head to Emporia Art Center for a Veteran's glass blowing demonstration. Mr. Curtis and Mrs. DeDonder got to blow glass and will pick up their awesome projects tomorrow!





The Early Learning Center had two special guest visit for the community helpers section they are learning about. First was Natalie Smart with Evergy, then Kelli Proehl, the Education Coordinator with David Traylor Zoo of Emporia.

Halloween in FCS was a great time! Today was all student initiated and planned. Kids had a great time making themed treats ...and some visitors popped by in costume!






STUCO sponsored a spirit week at NLC! Today students dressed up as teachers and teachers dressed up as students! đž
